Pen to paper: Essay Writing Essentials

Sharpen your thinking skills and write better essays

This is a practical course designed to help you gain confidence when writing essays in English. Whether you're preparing for an exam or simply aiming to improve your writing skills, this course will guide you through the key stages of planning, organizing, and refining your ideas.

Why take an essay writing course if you are not preparing for an exam?

You don’t need to be working toward a certificate to benefit from improving your writing. An essay writing course can help you express complex ideas more clearly, build stronger arguments, and develop a more polished, formal style.

I won’t promise it will be easy — but it will be transformative. Being part of a group with shared goals brings the added benefit of learning from others: exchanging feedback, gaining new perspectives, and feeling part of a supportive learning community.

On top of that, you’ll strengthen your critical thinking and gain confidence in your overall communication skills.

Is this course for you? It is if you want to...

Understand what essay writing requires and become confident using its conventions;

Build your writing confidence through practice and step-by-step guidance — from generating ideas to revising and editing;

Develop greater accuracy by working with sentence structures, clauses, and punctuation;

Improve cohesion by learning how to connect ideas clearly and effectively using linking devices.

The tutor

I have been an English teacher since 2011. My main interests are exam preparation (Cambridge English B2, C1 and C2 exams), writing skills, and language development for teachers. I hold a degree in Languages (UNESP), the Cambridge C2 Proficiency, the CELTA, and the TKT (Modules 1, 2, and 3), and more recently, the Trinity Cert PT qualification.

My aim is simple: to help people feel more confident — and more capable — every time they sit down to write.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me enjoying a coffee and a pastry at the nearest café, drafting a text I’ll never post, or rewatching one of my favourite films.
